What must be completed before construction can start?
Before construction of a dual occupancy can start, the required Development Approval (DA) must be in effect, any pre-construction conditions in the Notice of Decision must be satisfied, and the required Building Approval (BA) must be issued.
A licensed builder must also be appointed and obtain a building commencement notice from the building certifier. For residential building work, any required residential building insurance or fidelity cover must also be in place. Construction can start once the commencement notice has been issued.
Other approvals may also be required before particular works begin, such as approval for works on verges or other unleased Territory land.
