A plain English explanation of this ACT planning and property term.
Residential redevelopment means development that involves:a) substantial or total demolition of an existing dwelling on land previously used for residential purposes and replacement with one or more new dwellings;b) establishment of one or more new dwellings on land previously used for residential purposes in addition to an existing dwelling; orc) substantial alterations to an existing dwelling that would result in a significant change to the scale and/ or character of the dwelling.
Residential redevelopment is broader than a completely new estate. Major demolition and rebuilding, adding another dwelling, or extensive alterations that significantly change the existing development can fall within the concept.
