Legal Meaning

RL (Reduced Level) means the vertical height in metres above Australian Height Datum (AHD).

Plain English

A reduced level is the height of a point relative to that datum. Survey plans use RLs so floor levels, ground levels and building heights can be compared consistently, rather than using an arbitrary description such as 'about one metre above the garden'.
