Legal Meaning

Rear boundary means a block boundary other than a front boundary or a side boundary.

Plain English

A rear boundary is a block boundary that is not classified as a front boundary or a side boundary. On a simple rectangular suburban block it is usually the boundary behind the house, but irregular and corner blocks can be less obvious. The legal classification should be determined from the survey plan and planning definitions rather than from how the yard is commonly used.
