Legal Meaning

A certifier for building work is an eligible licensed construction practitioner appointed under the Building Act 2004 (ACT) to act as certifier for that work. Section 18 requires the practitioner to be entitled under the Construction Occupations (Licensing) Act 2004 to perform certification services and to meet the prescribed qualifications. Section 19 requires the owner to appoint an eligible entity as certifier before the building work begins.
