A plain English explanation of this ACT planning and property term.
single dwelling housing means the use of land for residential purposes for a single dwelling only.
Single-dwelling housing means using the land for only one dwelling. The block may still contain associated structures such as a garage, shed, pool or studio, provided they do not create another dwelling and comply with the relevant approvals. Once a second dwelling is proposed, the land use may instead become secondary residence, dual occupancy or another form of multi-unit housing.
