Legal Meaning

Means a formal legal change to the terms or conditions of an existing Crown lease to allow a different use, development outcome, or obligation than what is currently authorised.

Plain English

A lease variation changes the registered Crown lease, commonly its purpose clause or development conditions. It is separate from physical subdivision and may be needed where the proposed use or number of dwellings is not already authorised by the lease.
